New things
Hey y'all! I'm sure you're here because we've linked you through the Facebook page. So, welcome to the new site!
Shawnee and I love the group we'e created and everyone in it. However, it has sort of been straying from what we intended for it to be a year ago when we made it, so with the help of Sarah, Sierra, and you group members, we're going to re-vamp a bit. The current page will totally keep going as a "rants" branch, but we'll also be opening up a new page with the focus on actual action that we were originally wanting.
We hope that you guys are as excited as we are about what's to come- because we are VERY EXCITED!! We've got this new drive that we're working on hyping up. We want this to be even more successful than the Aunt Flo drive, which was insanely awesome! We're revamping the page, we're planning to walk in the Arts in the Alley parade in Grove City, we're thinking up street campaigns to target sexist ads, and we're talking about ways to recruit new members.
I'm sure most of you by now are aware of our ultimate goal for this group. We, the former administration and now executive board, want SSS to become a real nonprofit organization. It's going to be hard and there's a lot that we have to get rolling, but we think we can do it. We want to make careers out of smashing sexism through this group and we've been feeling very inspired lately, which is the reason for all of these changes. To become a nonprofit, we have to have an executive board (which is why we have that now! Yay for step one), we have to have a mission statement, and we have to have an income.
To take care of that income part, we're going to start an etsy shop. We're going to make some crafts and post them all over the internet to try to sell them through that shop. If you're good at making something and want to try to put it on the store, let one of us know! Just a preface to that though, etsy actually charges a small monthy fee for each item in the store, so we're going to try to keep the number of products we're selling fairly limited for now.
SORRY FOR RAMBLING but I'm REALLY excited because a lot is happening and I'm so stoked to have all of you lovlies on this journey with me xoxo
